One of the common tendencies that is noticed among the vehicle owners when they face transmission related problems is to postpone their visit to the transmission repair shop as long as possible, hoping that the problem will disappear on its own. Such an approach to dealing with transmission related problems may only aggravate the condition and possibly cause additional damage resulting in more expensive repairs. Any transmission rebuilt by our experienced Eagle Transmission shop should shift as good as the new one. A rebuilt transmission will protect your vehicle from further damage. If you start noticing these problems, the Eagle Transmission shop will handle the problems right at the beginning. One of the challenges that vehicle owners face when they need to get their transmission problems resolved is that they do not find the right transmission repair company. Yes, finding a reliable transmission repair shop can at times prove to be challenging. Not all transmission repair shops that promise to offer the best services live up to their promises. You will have to be therefore cautious with regard to who gets to lay their hands on your vehicle and its transmission. When you want to get your transmission rebuilt, you will have to look for a company that offers some kind of a warranty to their transmission repair services. Not all “mom and pop” repair businesses give warranties to their services. It is your responsibility therefore to find the company that is confident of its own services and are able to give a guarantee. Each transmission repair or transmission rebuild that Eagle Transmission provides includes a written warranty. The Eagle Transmission warranty ranges from 6 months 6,000 miles to 3 year 50,000 miles. The warranty period is determined at the point of sale in accordance with each Eagle Transmission specific guidelines. Any variation is set by the independently owned and operated Eagle Transmission location that provided the rebuild service. If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, you should be even more careful, because automatic transmission systems are highly complex and only technically sound experts will be able to determine a proper diagnosis for the problems with your automatic transmission systems. Advanced diagnostic equipment is needed to identify the problem and to resolve them effectively. The vast majority of general auto repair shops are not equipped to accurately determine transmission problems. Depending on the nature of your vehicle’s transmission problem, your transmission may need to be replaced, repaired or rebuilt. You will have to get professional help, and this is not something that can be determined by the average do it yourself kits. Look for the experts to have the problem addressed. A typical transfer case service includes an inspection, removal, and repair or replacement of the gears, bearings, gaskets, seals, and transfer case chain in the transfer case.

Transfer Case – Understanding the Basics

Transfer Case is one of the most important components of four-wheel drive vehicles. The role of your vehicle’s transfer case is to distribute the torque that it receives from the transmission to the axles. This component is not found in two-wheel drive vehicles. In the case of full time two-wheel drive, the torque is transferred directly to one axle, as there is no need to split the engine power between the front and the rear wheels.

In the case of full-time four-wheel drive and partial four-wheel drive, the engines power is transferred to the front and the rear axles depending on the driving option chosen by the driver while driving. If you own a full-time four-wheel drive or partial four-wheel drive, you will be able to spot the transfer case just behind your vehicle’s transmission.

The Transfer Case in most of the vehicles is driven by chain. This is the most preferred option because chain driven transfer cases are much quieter while running. However, if you are into extensive off-road driving, then you should go for gear driven transfer cases as it increases the durability of the component.

Your vehicle’s transfer case will allow you to switch to neutral, two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive high, and four-wheel drive low. When you switch to two-wheel drive, the transfer case will direct the engine’s power to the rear wheels. When you switch to four-wheel drive, the transfer case will direct the power to both rear wheel axle and front wheel axle.

If you are driving in poor traction conditions, it is best to switch to four-wheel low. This will allow you to run your vehicle at a very low speed but at a higher RPM. The idea here is to increase the RPM to power the tires to assist with the poor traction conditions. Added to that, a four-wheel drive low mode will be very useful when your vehicle is stuck. When you are in four-wheel drive low mode, your vehicle’s tires are less likely to break loose or spin off.

Given the importance of your vehicle’s transfer case, you should make sure that this component is regularly maintained. You will need to take your vehicle to be examined by a transmission repair company. Regular maintenance checks will enhance the performance of your vehicle and it will keep your vehicle’s transfer case in top condition.
